Yin Yoga Class

with Martha Flanagan

Are you moving too fast? Doing too many things at one time? Too much "mind chatter" or just want to slow down. Yin yoga can provide an antidote for this. This class will guide you through a series of poses that are primarily done sitting and lying down. The poses are held for 2-5 minutes at a time to allow connective tissues (fascia, ligaments) to soften, lengthen and lubricate. A yin yoga practice compliments a yang practice and allows for a more balanced approach to life.

Join us the last Friday & the 2nd Sunday of every month

Sound Therapy: Singing Bowls & Gongs

Soung Healing Oyster Bay

“Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life” ~ Ludwig van Beethoven

If every sound is vibration and if the vibration touches each and every cell of our body, we can understand that we don't perceive sound only with the ears, but with every cell in our body.

Some benefits of Sound Therapy:

  • Stress reduction

  • Drops you into an effortless state of relaxation.

  • Helps to recover after illness, traumas and invasive medical treatments.

  • Helps to cope with life's challenges.

  • Improves sleep.

  • Reduces anxiety.

  • Can be transformative in helping you to unblock emotions.

In a typical gong bath setting, you lay down on mats with a pillow and blanket over you; close your eyes and just listen to the sound of the gong washing over you. Within 20 mins your body relaxes. Your body will do what it needs, from sleeping to having visualisations. The session is 90 minutes long. You often feel like 2 minutes have passed or a few hours
have passed. You wake feeling energized.

Women's Circle

Women's Circle Oyster Bay

“How would your life be different if there had been a place for you, a place for you to go to be with your mother, with your sisters and the aunts, with your grandmothers, and the great- and great-great-grandmothers, a place of woman to go, to be, to return to as woman?

How might your life be different?’

                           -excerpt from Circle of Stones

Sisters please bring your beautiful, open hearts to our women’s circle Friday, October 19th, 7:30-9pm Oyster Bay Yoga, Oyster Bay. Our evening’s circle will utilize the best- selling classic, “Circle of Stones: Woman’s Journey to herself,” by Judith Duerk. This experience is about women helping women, connecting, holding ground for one another & simply being present for one another at all stages of life.  The space that we are creating is sacred space so that we may feel safe enough to sit within our own truth and allow it to unfold.  The level of participation is up to you. Feel free to come and share from your heart if you feel inspired or come and be silent and simply breathe with us.  Just come be with us. Something happens when women come together and honor the Feminine within each other…the whole world heals.

Time & Location

‎Dec‎ ‎08‎ ‎3‎:‎00‎ ‎PM – ‎07‎:‎00‎ ‎PM

Town Band Stand, 1 Shore Ave, Oyster Bay, NY 11771, USA

About The Event

Local businesses from Oyster Bay and East Norwich will set up tables to sample and sell their wares. This is the perfect opportunity to find a unique gift or a stocking stuffer. There will also be lots of fun activities like an ice skating rink for kids (or adventurous adults). John Canning will recite Twas The Night Before Christmas, Girl Scout Troupe 211 will set up fire pits for roasting marshmallows, a local choir will sing holiday carols, and at the end of the night, a special guest will join us: Santa Claus!

Santa won't be the only special guest we have this year. Oyster Bay's beloved Theodore Roosevelt will make an appearance also. He will be portrayed Jim Wiegand, one of the top Teddy actors in the country, who has preformed at the White House for President George Bush.

One hundred years ago in 1918, people all across the world celebrated the first Christmas after World War I but for Theodore Roosevelt it was his last. This year we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of his last Christmas. From 12-4 the Sagamore Hill National Park will offer free shuttle service back and forth between the holiday market and Theodore Roosevelt's house. Thanks to the support of the Friends of Sagamore Hill, there will be hot cider and hot cocoa, crafts for the kids, Kathleen Bart will do a live reading of her book A Tale Of Two Teddies, and the Rose Tree will preform live holiday music.

Vision Board Workshop

vision board workshop

Join us for a fun afternoon of creating your own vision board. A vision board is a collage of images, and affirmations of your goals, dreams, and things that make you happy! Remember, what you focus on and bring energy to expands! Come with an open heart and an open mind.

We will provide most of the materials, including the board, the glue, markers and crayons, and some images and words that might inspire you, but we encourage you to bring any pictures that might be specific to YOU (pictures of yourself, your family, loved ones, etc, specific places, or spaces that mean something to you).

Partner Yoga

Join Breanna & Lianna of Long Island Bridal Yoga as they host a Valentine's Day inspired partner workshop at Oyster Bay Yoga! Come with a date or friend for this two hour event. The night starts with an hour long vinyasa class focusing on opening and connecting with the heart chakra (the energy center of the body for love and compassion), and ends with a 45 minute partner yoga workshop. These partner poses will not only bring you deeper into each yoga asana, but are also intended to build a sense of connection and trust between each couple. End the night with a 15 minute guided heart chakra meditation, to leave with a deeper connection and kindness to yourself and each other.
