April 2026 at Oyster Bay Yoga

Devotion

Dear Yogis,

Devotion doesn’t have to be tied to anything formal or religious. It can be simple, personal, and quietly powerful. At its core, devotion is the act of showing up with sincerity by returning your attention, again and again, to something that matters to you. It might look like committing to your practice, staying present with your breath, or choosing to care for yourself even on the days when it feels difficult.

In yoga, there’s an understanding that when we offer ourselves fully to something meaningful without overthinking, forcing, or striving, the mind begins to soften. There’s less resistance, less grasping, and more trust in the process. Devotion becomes less about discipline and more about relationship: a steady, grounded connection to what supports you.

This kind of devotion isn’t about perfection. It’s about consistency and a willingness to stay connected. Over time, that gentle returning creates a sense of ease and clarity, reminding us that sometimes the most powerful shifts come not from doing more, but from showing up with care.

All my best,
Amy

Pose of the Month

Utkata Konasana : Goddess Pose

This month at the studio we breakdown
Utkata Konasana: Goddess Pose.
Learn how best to practice this pose in any class all month long!

Sutra of the Month

Yoga Sutra 1.23 teaches us that the mind can become calm and clear through devotion by offering our attention to something greater than ourselves. This doesn’t have to be religious; it can simply mean dedicating your practice to a sense of purpose, trust, or something deeply meaningful to you.

Rather than relying only on discipline or control, this approach invites a sense of ease. When we let go of constant striving and instead practice with sincerity, the mind begins to settle more naturally. It’s a reminder that sometimes, softening into trust and connection can be just as powerful as effort.

Oil of the Month

Our April OOTM is:

Energy Oil

“When your day needs a lift, Organic Energy helps you find your spark. This vibrant blend combines USDA Certified Organic essential oils of Peppermint, Orange, Lemon, Ginger Root CO₂, Eucalyptus, and Geranium to create a crisp, invigorating aroma that reawakens focus and motivation. Diffuse it first thing in the morning to shake off grogginess, or reach for it mid-afternoon when energy starts to dip.

Each oil in this blend contributes its own natural boost: Peppermint and Eucalyptus help refresh the senses, bright citrus oils encourage positivity, and warming Ginger Root CO₂ brings a gentle, stimulating edge. Together, they inspire clarity, alertness, and an overall sense of renewed vitality, so you can feel ready to take on whatever the day brings.”

Intentional Listening Circle

Sunday, April 26th
6:30-8:00pm
with Kaitlyn Pawlukojc

"I will ask you questions, I will try to understand, and if you give me your story, I will hold it in my hands . . . " Revolutionary Love, Ani DiFranco

Listening is an act of compassion -- for our own selves as well as for one another.  In the practice of deep listening, we pause, become present to what is, and connect in new ways.  The intention is to listen with the "ears of your heart."

When we speak aloud our stories, the words and emotions shared weave our lives together.  This helps us remember that we are not alone and that we can learn from one another.  The encouragement is to add your uniquely colored thread to the tapestry.

Please join us once a month to engage in loving listening as we grow our community together.  The invitation is to bring what you have and ask for what you need.  All are welcome!

FREE to attend (Registration is required)
